After and uneventful flight from Fort Myers (RSW) to Houston (IAH) I headed over to Terminal D to check out the KLM Crown Lounge.
My trip started off with a 6 AM flight out of Fort Myers (RSW) on a United 737-800. RSW is a pretty small airport and as such, there was no line to check-in or for security. I was actually somewhat excited to fly United as it has been 10 or so years since I last flew with them and I was interested to see what changes Oscar Munoz and co. have brought in. I quickly found out the answer was “not many.”
One question that seemed to get raised pretty regularly is when is it worth it to spend the extra miles on a business class redemption to Europe? In my opinion, this is a question that is strongly dependent on your home airport, the operating airline and the aircraft operated on the route. So let’s take a closer look at when it may make sense to spend the extra miles for a business class redemption to Europe.
This was a unique trip for me in that it was not only a trip that I took on a whim, but as it turned out, a trip that I needed to take. Not to mention this was the first trip that I was booking flights and hotels abroad literally hours before checking in – which was a first for me.
