Amex Hilton HHonors No Fee Card Signup Bonus Now 75K!

As I mentioned in my post on the Amex HHonors Surpass card, it appears that American Express has decided to step up their game by offering increased signup bonuses on their co-branded hotel credit cards. First we saw the largest ever signup bonus on the SPG Amex cards, and now we’re seeing an awesome signup bonus on the no annual fee Hilton HHonors credit card! This is definitely a card I would recommend picking up at this bonus!

American Express has just announced that they have increased the signup bonus for their co-branded Hilton HHonors credit card! This is the highest signup bonus I can recall seeing on this particular card. Until May 4, 2016, the signup bonus has been increased to 75,000 HHonors points!

Hilton 1

For a limited time, you can earn 75,000 Hilton HHonors points after $1,000 in purchases on the card within the first 3 months.

Hilton 2

This card does offer some pretty good category bonuses as well. You will earn:

  • 7 Hilton HHonors points per $1 spent at Hilton properties
  • 5 Hilton HHonors points per $1 spent at U.S. restaurants, supermarkets and gas stations
  • 3 Hilton HHonors points per $1 spent on all other purchases

Hilton 3

You will also receive complimentary Hilton HHonors Silver status so long as you are a cardholder.

Hilton 4

Hilton HHonors Silver would normally require 4 stays or 10 nights to achieve – so this card is a decent option to fast track to this lower-tier status.

Silver 2

Hilton HHonors Silver status does comes with some great benefits like a 15% bonus on all HHonors base points you earn, complimentary internet access, express check-out, 2nd guest stays free, complimentary access to the fitness center and health clubs on properties that offer these amenities and 2 complimentary bottles of water at select properties.

Silver 1

In the event you spend $20,000 on the card in a calendar year, you will earn mid-tier HHonors Gold status through the end of the next calendar year! While that is a pretty decently sized spend, if you just wanted HHonors Gold status, you would be better off picking up the HHonors Surpass card in lieu of, or (better yet) in addition to this card.

Hilton 5

One thing to keep in mind with this card is that there are foreign transaction fees. Considering Hilton has one of the largest international footprints of any hotel chain, it is something that is worth keeping in mind.

There is no annual fee on this card which is pretty hard to beat!

As a reminder, HHonors award nights can be booked for as few as 5,000 HHonors points per night. That means this signup bonus (not including the points from the spend) is potentially worth up to 15 free nights!

HHonors 1

I am pretty tempted to sign up for this card myself as I have never had it before. With that said, this would be a card I opened for the bonus, met the minimum spend on and then put in the drawer only to be used every few months for a small purchase to keep it active as I really do not see much value in the card for everyday spend. If you do not mind an annual fee of $75 and can meet a $3,000 spend in 3 months, you would be much better off signing up for the HHonors Surpass card. Getting both would be even better as you would have close to 200,000 HHonors points after meeting the spends!

Final Thoughts

As with the HHonors Surpass card, this is fantastic news and the highest signup bonus I can ever recall seeing from American Express on this card! The signup bonus alone on this card makes it worthwhile if redeemed smartly, though I would not recommend putting any regular spend on this card as there are much better options out there for that. Regardless, it is a card I have not had before, so I am pretty tempted by this deal.

Who else will be signing up for this card this month?
